Good coverage is finally emerging on next month's launch of the Fox Business Network. Variety carried some juicy quotes from Rupert Murdoch this week. Marketwatch's Jon Friedman produced a nice analysis here.
Despite what most writers assert, the big issue isn't Fox versus CNBC. More important will be Fox's mission to empower big business. Soon to come: ongoing broadsides against Sarbanes-Oxley, business taxes and efforts to stem global warming. God help the EPA, FTC, SEC, OSHA, unions, "activist judges" and all other entities charged with protecting citizens against the whims of multinationals.
Just as Richard Nixon's resignation might never have happened if a Fox News Channel had been around to attack the "witch hunt," we can expect similar air cover for the next Kenneth Lay or Dennis Kozlowski -- because after all, industrious Americans like these were only trying to make money, like all white people are entitled to do in the land of the free and home of the brave.
