The LCD on my Dell laptop broke last night, after a fall from a motel room desk. The top of the screen still works but the rest of it just shows white. The bright side of my carelessness is that I'll soon be buying another Macintosh. I bought my first one 20 years ago: the Macintosh Plus. It was great, but back then I worked at PC Week, and I gradually decided it was irresponsible to use a Mac. My next computer was a Windows-based PC, as were all others since.
I expect to replace the Dell with a MacBook. I don't see the need to buy the bigger and more expensive MacBook Pro models, and I travel far too often to consider an iMac. Is that shortsighted? I may be asking for your help and advice from time to time as I migrate. Hope you won't mind.
